Shared money with four folks this month
I've been lazy folks, and I apologize for neglecting all of you these last several weeks. I'm alive and well, hoping for spring to arrive soon so I can plant a vegetable garden. It's one of my hobbies and as March approaches I usually get pretty antsy for the long winter to finally end.
I've sent money to four people so far this month.
- $50 to Carl from Tupelo, MS
- $150 to Luz from Austin, TX
- $50 to Sally from Utah
- $150 to Joseph from Charleston, WV
Each of these folks sent me an email explaining their request for funds. Hopefully this money comes in handy for the bills they're trying to pay and the important goals they hope to achieve through saving money.
As always, I welcome your emails and requests. I read them and try to respond to them when I can.

Well I'm glad to see that you are back! I have been waiting anxiously to hear from you. I'm glad that you are back and doing well!
I never even got a "thank you" but "I won't even help" from you. Based on your info, you mentioned that you would at least respond to everyone whether you help or not. My needs are very great and I am sure I won't be a recipient, but was at least hoping for a polite response back. Anyway... I hope those you do help will benefit from your money.
I really don't think that that is fair. I put in a financial request myself way back in February and I realize that it may take some time to get back to me so I haven't given up hope and you shouldn't either.
Teresa, Why do you think he owes you a thank you or anything for that matter. There are tons of people out there that need financial help, some not so badly, others really badly, so who is to say how you fall into the category. A website or blog like this will get many many requests, probably overwhelming amounts. It would be very hard for the owner to acknowledge them all. In short, the only response you should expect is one that says you were picked for some help, and that is all. Sorry, but that is the way it is.

I apologize if I've done anything to upset you. I get so many requests every day that sometimes it's possible that I forget to respond to some emails or that I simply can't get to them all. I hope you can understand that I didn't purposely slight you. But with thousands of emails to read every month, it's quite a task.
Thanks for letting us know about the volume of email that you get each month (or even each day) I surely do hope that my request was not "lost" in the bunch. I believe I put my request way back in January and I'm still hoping for a positive reply from you. Thank you for everything that you are doing to help us!

I think this is an extraordinary site. Even if I do not get money, the thought that someone is out there in the world doing what I would do if I had money. I am a freelance victim advocate and I help people for free because the trauma of sexual abuse is so great, money should not be an obstacle to wellness. Thanks whoever you are!!!!

I'm not ignoring your request. I've been traveling lately and following up with people who email me as time permits. I am still actively responding to as many requests as possible. I just haven't posted here in a while. I'll do what I can to start posting more frequently.

Hello Scott im really praying that you get to many of those request who really needs it, like i do especially the single parents. If it wasnt for my baby girl and looking her in the face everytime she wakes up...i would have gave in a long time ago. All i need is a little bit of help and i can prepare a better life for the both of us.
I think we should never be harsh
towards anyone offering help.
If we are not chosen, we must trust
somehow someone will come and help
us along the way; but to be angry
at a person who said he will help
is not really nice. I never read
that everyone would receive help;
but some will .. I keep hoping

Be happy folks. Good things come to those who wait. We can not be martyrs. We have no reason to be.. Scott is doing what he can like I have done in my little corner. Please show consideration and most of all know that he is trying to show love in his own way. He doesn't owe any of us any thing. This has got to weigh heavy on him after a time..How do you stop hearing all the sad stories when you try to go to bed. How do you find or pick someone to help and know there are so many more. THIS IS REALLY A HEAVY BURDEN LIKE CARRYING A CROSS UPHILL. Take some weight off and help him to help others by being patient and kind. that is really all I have to say.. GOD BLESS YOU SCOTT ..

Think about the emotional Journey it takes one individual to overcome in order to be in a state of loving kindness to give and help another .... Lets only use comforting words to help this person on his journey ..... Many are struggling, many and burdened, but all must turn to God and have faith ...
The only problem is, I am from the Philippines and i don't even know if even if he read my story, he'll send me some money, all i'm asking is supplies of milk for my kids even just for 2-4 weeks. I got two kids, 10 months old, twins. And buying some milk is killing, i have to borrow everytime they're out.
kareleo- just wanted to let you no i have put in a few requests with different amounts becuz i had read a few of the blogs and seen very small amounts given to people. i apologize for not being more specific in my request. My husband and i are on ssi and he gets social security and things have really been bad becuz of high utility bills. i imagine i will hear from you before too much longer. we just are desperate for some relief right now. thank you

Hope your day started nice & warm.I ran across your blog and I so I write in hopes that you would help I and my kids.The bills are behind & we're almost out of food I'm disabled from epilepsy & Rheumatoid Arthritis (which flares up the colder it gets.Makes it harder to get around and they cut my checks 3 months ago.I had some nice days & was able to catch a little cleaning work.Lost my husband back in 2004.TIL A year and a half ago it was just I and my daughter Then I took in a friend from her school whose parents broke up and both left the state.Just abandoned this man child.I thought it to be too cruel to just up & leave a young boy with an eviction notice & no food a year before he could finish school.I know what it's like to feel alone and to be unwanted from my own youth so I could not leave him that way.. Altho I don't regret taking him in I have another mouth to feed and money runs out much faster,Bills are a bit higher and if you truly wish to help I would accept ANY at this time.Thank You for reading and have the best day ever- Angel
i think that if u get mad at a man who has a big heart and helps someone that he doesnt even know then thats just greed its great that someone thinks of others and helps them thats what this county needs now then ever i believe if we all help and dont look for whats in it for us first we can make a differance im a single dad with two boys 5yrs and a 4yr old and its hard but i do it and i never want try to play the poor me card when i do anything i want to say i did it if your mad that he didnt help u think maybe he helped a family who was living in a shelter and has it worst then u ok there is always someone who does need it more then you

I would hope that those seeking help months & months ago would have by now found a way to pick themselves up by finding a solution to things after all this time.
I had asked for help some time ago. But I also started scrapping after seeing an article on metal recycling. We've used the extra funds collected from gathering every bit of metal trash we find to keep the utilities on. My teens take bags & hit the parks, gas stations, lots, all along the road & and parking lots. There are cans, bits of metal & junk metal all over. We especially watch on garbage day for any metal being tossed out. Steel, aluminum, copper & iron/tin can all be taken in.
Frankly, I wish that I could do what he's doing & help others with cash. But I do help out those that need things by boxing up toys, clothing & books to give to families that I find on the various local classifieds. I may not be able to give cash, but I can do what I can. I've got to reduce all the accumulated things from a large family now that several of the kids are grown. My last is a boy, so all the girl stuff needs re-giving to someone else.
I wish everyone that's going through these harsh times to find the strength to keep going & find ways they can make a difference in another person's life.
12I try to never criticize anyone but I know that we are all on hard times and lack of money usually changes people.I read these comments and they all sound like everyone is dissing everyone else. Scott is one man and we have not heard from him in a while.Maybe his circumstances changed. If you read his blog then you know that he picks who to help and how much on what touches him.He said that you don't have to be the most needy or loosing your house, car etc. It only matters if it touches his heart. Everyone should pray that by the time he gets around to you, you won't need help. I have read all these posts and I feel bad for everyone. I am 61 with a very sick husband.I raised 52 foster kids. still raising kids for others. I give my time to the school, donate what I can to those in need, cut hair for free, babysit for free, sew for anyone who needs it because I can do it from my home. I will survive, I know that. but it would just be easier if I could get a helping hand financially. I want you all to get help too. You can get help with many things through the united way in your particular county, such as help with utility bills. You have to put yourself out there and ask a LOT OF QUESTIONS at every agency you talk to. Remember that God knows every hair on your head and he has a plan. I have one thing that keeps me going and that is the Lords Prayer which saysnot my will but "thy will be done". He will carry you but you have to REALLY BELIEVE that he will. I am strong and getting through it one day at a time because I set myself a goal to be able to keep my head above water until February and taxes come back. This will solve my problem if it is not solved by then. It gives me something to aim for. It helps to see where you are going and to pace yourself. God bless you all and hope you find peace. Money isn't everything although most agree that it is important till you have everything else in place. Good night world and I will pray for each of you and hope you remember me too.
